Maranda principal denies forcing students to repeat

Boaz Owino

Maranda High School Principal Boaz Owino has refuted claims that the institution was forcing students to repeat classes if they did not meet the threshold that guarantees them to move to the next level. Mr Owino said the school does not make students repeat without their own consent or their parents’.

He expressed his displeasure at some parents who were accusing them of forcing their children to repeat yet they had been consulted over the same. He confirmed that in deed the parents of a Form Two Student had disagreed on whether he should repeat or not.

“A couple came to me last week, and the father wanted the child to repeat while the mother seemed reluctant. After consultations they both agreed that the child should repeat, only for me to read in a section of the media that we forced the boy to repeat,” said Mr Owino.
