Coast Academy dominate Championships

Coast Academy grabbed the overall girls’ title during the Coast Novices Swimming Championships at Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa.

The school bagged 215 points and was followed in the second position by Oshwal Academy with 157 points. Bandari Club collected 96 points and settled for the third slot.

Aga Khan Nursery had 51 points, while Dolphins Club (19), Individual Team (18), Coast Swim Club (10) and Blue Ocean Club (four) followed in that order.

In the boys’ category, Bandari Club were victorious with 176 points and were followed by Oshwal Academy and Coast Academy with 142.5 and 92 points.

Dolphins claimed the fourth position with 70.5 points, while Blue Ocean and Coast Triathlon Club had 44 and 33 points.

Others were Coast Swim Club (13), Aga Khan Nursery (11) and Coast Swim Club Nyali (Nine). Jaffery Academy and Oshwal Academy dominated boys’ and girls’ relays, winning most of the titles.

Swimming activities have taken a two-month break after the conclusion of the Coast Amateur Swimming Association Calendar for the season.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s best swimmers will battle it out in Glasgow’s Tollcross Pool this week for a place in the Commonwealth Games team. It’s the Scottish National Championships, also serving as trials for a place in Delhi.

Athletes and coaches have been busy making final preparations to ensure they are at their competitive best to meet the qualification standard.
