The nationwide matatu strike entered its second on Tuesday paralysing public transport across the country with the disruptions extending to other sectors.

Commuters in major cities and towns across the country had to resort to other means of transport as matatus kept off the roads.

Matatu owners on Monday after when their strike began, held a meeting with Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and Transport CS Davis Chirchir to seek a solution that would see them return to the roads.

After the meeting the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced the reduction of diesel price by Sh10 to retail at Sh232.96 and kerosene increased by Sh38.60 to retail at Sh191.38 per litre in Nairobi.

The talks however did not yield any fruits with the owners insisting that the strike would go on since their demands were not met.

11:10 am: Nakuru-Nairobi Highway empty following the barricading of the road at Free Area.

9:22 am: Kakamega primary school remained closed with the few students who reported to school forced to go back home.

7:51 am: Few PSV vehicles operate along Outering Road hiking fare as passengers are left stranded at Pipeline, Fedha stages.
