The National Assembly has approved the appointment of 27 envoy nominees.

The 27 who include Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Permanent Representatives of Kenya were nominated by President William Ruto nearly a month ago.

The Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech- led Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has approved all the 27 nominees for appointment.

Among those vetted for the ambassadorial position are; Amb. Stella Orina (Berlin, Germany), Nairimas Sharon Ole Sein (Madrid, Spain), Maurice Makoloo (Vienna, Austria) and Emmy Jerono Kipsoi (Seoul, South Korea).

During the vetting, Koech noted that most of the nominees had a diplomatic background, and challenged them to pursue avenues to market Kenya as a favourable investment destination if approved for appointment.

The Committee also ascertained their clearance by relevant institutions including the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) the Higher Education Loans Board, and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.

“We need to leverage on all these opportunities, and noting that most of the nominees have a diplomatic background will be a great head start should this Committee approve your nomination for appointment,” said Koech.

The nominations and redeployments were made by President Ruto in his first Cabinet reshuffle since taking office.
