The U.S Department of State Spokesperson, Ned Price, has called on the full accountability of LGBTQ activist Edwin Kiptoo Chiloba's death.

Price on Wednesday, January 12, urged Kenya to conduct a thorough investigation into the murder of the activist, whose body was found dumped in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County last week.

"Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of prominent Kenyan LGBTQI+ community member Edwin Chiloba. We call for full accountability for his death," Price tweeted.

Government pathologist Johansen Odour on Wednesday revealed that Chiloba died of asphyxiation (a process of being deprived of oxygen, which can result in unconsciousness or death).

Further interrogation showed that Chiloba's mouth and nose had been covered using a cloth. His mouth was also blocked using three pairs of socks and his brain was swollen.

In the last week, activists and human rights organizations have condemned the brutal murder of the model and called for an immediate probe into his killing.

Police are currently holding five suspects linked to his murder. They will remain in custody for 21 more days as authorities complete investigations.
