Police in Syokimau, Machakos County have arrested a military doctor accused of assaulting his 21-year-old daughter and firing at a boda boda rider.

The doctor suspected that the two were in a relationship.

Police say the suspect’s daughter had hailed a boda boda ride home on Thursday, July 14, and upon reaching her destination, her father suspected that the motorcycle rider was dating the lady.

“As the woman was about to pay him (fare), the suspect emerged from the gate and beat her up,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said on Twitter on Friday.

“He thereafter hounded her into the compound.”

Police say the suspect returned, cocked his firearm, a Glock pistol, aimed at the boda boda rider and fired a shot. However, the rider fled, escaping unharmed.

“The suspect was arrested and handed over to military police for further action,” said the DCI.

The Glock pistol and 42 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
