PSC announces 8,000 internship opportunities

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced internship opportunities in Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

The Commission Secretary announced 8,000 internship positions under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) for the year 2023/2024.

In an advert on Tuesday, July 25, PSC noted that those eligible for the internship mainly are graduates who shall gain experience to build their skills on employment.

“The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a government youth empowerment programme whose main objective is to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills in order to enhance their chances for employment, networking, and entrepreneurship,” the advert read in part.

Eligible applicants must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university, graduated not earlier than 2017, and demonstrate proficiency in computer skills.

The role of the intern will range from completing duties manually agreed upon and assigned by supervisors and document skills they acquired in areas of deployment.

The interns are required to actively engage in any relevant mentorship activities and be willing to take on additional responsibilities designated to them throughout the 12-month period of internship.

During the non-renewable internship contract, they will be paid a stipend at a rate that will be determined by the government.

Upon successful completion of the internship programme, interns will be awarded a certificate.

Applications for the internship positions are open as interested and qualified graduates are encouraged to apply through the Commission's job portal.

The application deadline will be on August 14, 2023.
