The students from the University of Nairobi have poured into streets to protest against the brutal murder of Samuel Ragira which occurred at Club 36 on Thursday night, in Nairobi.

Waving the placards and chanting their songs of protests, they are holding yet another protest after yesterday’s in which they flooded State House Road after the killing happened.

Mr Ragira, a former student leader-cum- politician was shot several times at Club 36 in Nairobi by unknown assailants yet to be unmasked by the police.

Sources reveal that the police rushed his body to the City Mortuary shortly after the incident and said that he had been killed by a mob.

However, the law enforcers are yet to announce investigation process to arrest the suspects behind the heinous murder.

An amateurish footage has also emerged showing lifeless, fresh and flexible body of Ragira soaked in a pool of blood at City Mortuary. From the footage, the onlookers seemed to be counting the bullet holes on his back and chest areas.

Battle with gangs?

A recent social media posts by the slain politician have revealed leads into possible perpetrators of his killing.

Apparently, he appeared to have been on a warpath to fight for helpless students and traders at not knowing the possible consequences.

While condemning the extortion of Klabu 36 traders in Nairobi, by organized gangs, Ragira posted the following on his Facebook page on Wednesday, March 13, 2019.

“It is unfortunate that Mungiki are terrorising Klabu 36 traders with pangas and guns taking advantage of the situation. They are demanding 10K from every trader to build a kibanda. This issue is disturbing as the police are watching it happen.”

The former contender for Kilimani Ward representative position further accused the police for covering criminal gangs who are on a mission to subdue poor students and traders. He alleged that attempts report for the vice had landed on deaf years, and yielded no fruits.

He posted: “Students are being harassed and others losing their phones. We want to know why the police can side with people terrorising innocent Kenyans. Why should a mama mboga pay 10K to unknown people to do business? Are we managed by terrorists in the name of police?”

“I reported this matter to Jogoo house control room and police were sent but they instead resorted to ignore the situation. We now appeal to the County government and National government to tell us who are these criminals. We cannot allow. Personally I was threatened by a panga. So where are we heading as a nation? Sad!”

His killing has invited condemnation from Kenyans, who have blamed the law enforcers for incompetence.

Abraham Mutai posted on twitter: “OCS Ragira the murdered Nairobi University Student leader was alive when police arrived. He was breathing. This officer is seen here feeling the pulse and a student has confirmed OCS was breathing. No ambulance, no first aid, nothing. Our incompetence is nauseating.”

Joining the queue was former UON student leader and current Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who lamented the death of his colleague.

“I strongly condemn the killing of one comrade Samuel Ragira who was shot today at club 36 at the university of Nairobi.May his soul Rest In Peace. We shall overcome,” he posted.
