Police officer, suspected thugs killed in slums shootout

A police officer was Tuesday shot dead and two others wounded during a shootout with suspected thugs in Nairobi’s Mukuru and Kibera slums. Four suspects were also killed during the incidents.

The drama started Kibera where three suspects were killed before the fourth one was tracked to Mukuru.

In Mukuru, he engaged the officers in a shootout killing one and injuring two. Police say they recovered two pistols and a communication gadget.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said the gang was linked to the Saturday killing of another officer in Kibera slums where he was robbed of his gun.
