Kenyans rebuke DP Ruto for calling Raila barbaric and primitive

Deputy President William Ruto was on the receiving end of rebuke when his tweet about National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga did not sit well with Kenyans.

The lord of POVERTY & master of VIOLENCE came with his signature chaos, destruction, bloodshed and death. Barbaric, undemocratic&primitive— William Samoei Ruto (@WilliamsRuto) November 18, 2017

Ruto’s tweet, which came right after NASA supporters engage the police in cat and mouse games over being stopped from accessing Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive Raila seemed to annoy most of his followers.

On November 17, the police had a hard time controlling NASA supporters who had flocked to the airport to receive Raila, who had been to the United States for 10 days.

The supporters’ after engaging with the police then joined Raila’s motorcade in a march through Mombasa Road all the way to Uhuru Park where Raila was to give his speech.

Upon arrival, the park had been sealed off which then caused more chaos as supporters struggled to get in. The march then moved towards Upper hill.

Five supporters lost their lives during the entire march as they clashed with police from The Airport to their destination. Lots of property was destroyed, shops were looted and cars were stoned.

Following the whole incident, Ruto tweeted on November 18 accusing Raila of causing poverty and violence and calling him primitive.

This outburst elicited strong emotions from Kenyans and they did not hesitate to respond to him.

Spare us sir,,, I better relate with the lord of land grabbing, corruption and impunity than associating with the lord of deaths, violence and property destruction— Annie Ngugi (@anniewangui_) November 18, 2017

Master of Violence?? I thought you were the one charged in ICC for crimes against humanity, Mass MURDER, Deportation or forcible transfer of a population, torture and persecution of the Kenyan people! Just a quick reminder.— Hon.Tom Akwiri (@Tom_Akwiri) November 18, 2017

Stop being blind, if your police could have allowed the peaceful procession the chaos couldn't hv been there, but u r panicking until u can't reason

Ruto, call him whatever you want but remember nobody clings to power forever. Be rational, you are filled with hate and claim to be holier than RAO? Recollect yourself and rethink your actions— Tony Godia (@GodiaTonylaw) November 18, 2017

The Whole world Knows who was CHARGED with the most HEINOUS crimes against Humanity on Earth at ICC, Raila Odinga DEFIED Jubilee, your STRATEGY failed #RailaReturns #RESIST

On this one, i disagree. Police were caught on camera pelting stones at Raila's Convoy. What a shame. Revisit your advisors before pointing a finger at Raila

But I think The Demo Was All Peaceful until when The Police Started Enganging The Local Demonstrators who in fear of police reacted with Violence. #AmaniKenya.— EMBU COUNTY NEWS (@NewsZaEmbu) November 18, 2017

Your gov't caused all this, was it so difficult for Raila to be allowed to use Uhuru park ground? That was unnecessary stand off.Failed govt.— Charity Wambui (@Charity_Wambo) November 18, 2017

Why I disagree: Because @RailaOdinga brought no violence aboard. It is the police your government ordered to PREVENT people from WELCOMING @RailaOdinga . Not a fair game. May God avenge— Mokoro Stephen (@MokoroStephen) November 18, 2017
