President Uhuru Kenyatta has formally received former Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye who joined the Jubilee Party on Thursday.

Welcoming Nkedianye to the Jubilee side on Friday, President Uhuru said there was need to work together with other leaders to improve lives of residents in Kajiado.

“There is need for us to work together to improve the lives of Kajiado residents and all Kenyans,” said President Uhuru.

The former ODM Governor pledged to work with Governor Joseph Ole Lenku for the benefit of the residents of Kajiado County.

He lauded the Head of State for his efforts to unite the country and improving the welfare of Kenyans.

Nkedianye defected to Jubilee alongside other county leaders, and announced that he had withdrawn an election petition against Governor Lenku.

Deputy President William Ruto admitted it had not been easy to convince Nkedianye to join the Jubilee brigade adding that similar efforts in 2012 failed.

“It took us six years to convince this man to join Jubilee. We value his contribution to Maasai politics,” said DP Ruto.

Nkedianye filed a petition in September challenging Lenku's election in the August 8 General Election.

He said Kajiado was among counties with ‘computer-generated’ leaders, adding that he had damaging evidence against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on the manipulation of election results.

Governor Lenku (Jubilee) got 174,697 votes while Dr Nkedianye (ODM) hd 146,652 votes.
