Embattled National Land Commission (NLC) chairman Muhammad Swazuri has linked his ouster bid to cartels hell-bent on grabbing public land.

Dr Swazuri said land cartels were alarmed by the commission's efforts to recover grabbed lands and were fighting back.

He, however, said the attempts would not deter him from executing his mandate because the Constitution empowered the commission to carry out its duty.

"Whether I am the chairman or not, the commission is bound by the Constitution to fulfil its mandate. I will not be cowed by the cartels," said Swazuri.
