Brides are confessing their most embarrassing wedding fails

By Mirror | June 22nd 2019

American TV host Jimmy Fallon has got the people of Twitter buzzing over weddings.

The 44-year-old presenter set his 51 million followers the hilarious task of sharing their weirdest wedding stories, using the hashtag #WeddingFail - and it's fair to say they did not disappoint.

Thousands have joined in with the fun, revealing some incredibly cringe-worthy tales, from brides who were completely upstaged on their big day, to guests who ruined photos and made some bizarre outfit choices.

Here's a look at some of the best responses to his request.

The top tweet came from a woman named Amy Pennza, who confessed that on her special day, her mother-in-law also turned up to the ceremony wearing a wedding dress.

Alongside a snap of the two women wearing white gowns, she wrote: "My mother-in-law wore a wedding dress to my wedding. So, yeah, top that one, Twitter. #WeddingFail."

Her tweet garnered a lot of attention, with more than 27,000 people liking it and over 5,000 retweeting it.

Due to the popularity of the tweet, Amy, a romance author, later provided more of a back story, revealing that her mother-in-law is an extremely "frugal" woman and the dress was "an incredible bargain" which she simply couldn't turn down.

She added: "If you ask her now, she says she feels terrible about it.

"But she has more than made up for it since."

Other brilliant tweets, included one woman revealing some important advice she was given, but ignored, on the morning of her wedding.

"Before my wedding, the best man told me I shouldn’t marry his best friend. I never got along with the best man and, of course, got married.

"Now, I’m divorced from my first husband and happily married to the former best man. I guess I should have listened!"

Another posted: "At the end of the night I carried my wife into our honeymoon suite only to find another couple had fraudulently checked in the room as the bride and groom and were GOING AT IT in our bed.

"Needless to say, we got another room, for free, for the week."

A third added: "My MIL brought platters of food to my catered wedding reception so their side of the family would 'have something to eat that they liked.'

Someone else admitted they'd seen someone do a Ross in real life: "I was performing a wedding ceremony and the groom said the bride’s sister’s name during the vows. Things went downhill from there."

There were also some sweet wedding fails, including a guest sharing a photo of three grandmothers, who all arrived wearing the exact same dress.

And one which will give you a laugh: "When my brother got married his wife laughed uncontrollably throughout the ceremony because she had just found out that he was wearing Spanx under his tux."
