Kenya’s top photographers set for recognition

Nairobi, Kenya: Kenyan photographers will for the first time receive recognition for exemplary work in the art.

The PAWA254 in partnership with the Photographers Association of Kenya will award top photographers in the event that will henceforth be held annually.

The event that will be take place at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) is aimed at nurturing and growing photography as an art as well as promote professional standards and improve the standard of the practice.

The Tuesday November 26 award gala will recognise photograthers in seven fields - News, Daily Life, Portraiture, Creative, Sports, Nature, Most promising photographer- and a winner will be selected from each.

Most promising photographer category will cater for among others, photographers below the age of 23.

The overall winner will take home Sh300,000 alongside a Pro Level DSLR camera.

The winner and 1st runner-up in each category will receive Sh100,000 and Sh25,000 respectively while twelve most promising photographers will each get a certificate of merit and attend a 3-day master photography workshop.

Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and Swiss ambassador Jacques Pitteloud will award the winners.
