Two ‘Standard’ journalists have won top awards in child rights.

Features writer Joe Ombuor and editorial cartoonist Eric Jacob Ngamau (Gammz) were among winners of the 4th Children’s Rights Media Awards, 2012.

Other winners

Mr Ombuor‘s story ‘Deformity spurred boy to excel’ on a 19-year-old physically challenged student who scored grade ‘A’ in the 2011 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam won ‘The Most Educative Award’.

Mr Ngamau’s cartoon ‘wife inheritance’ that, according to judges “gave a vivid illustration that left nothing to the imaginative mind on the effect of wife inheritance on children” scooped ‘The Children Photography Award.’

Other awards went to journalists from Nation Media Group, Royal Media Services, The People Daily, and KBC.

The awards will be presented on October 27 at the Laico Regency Hotel.
