However, several salient points, which need urgent attention to save the sugar industry from collapse occasioned by farmer disillusionment, arise from this. Whereas the sugar industry itself has been liberalised, services to farmers remain exploitatively skewed in favour of the millers and middlemen at the expense of an impoverished farmer.
