Man killed over Sh50 chips change

A 23-year-old man has been killed in a row over Sh50. Junior Opiyo was killed by a man who was selling chips at Makongeni estate on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said Opiyo, who was in company of three others, went to buy Sh50 chips and gave the trader a Sh100 note, but the vendor did not have change. He opted to go look for change, but Opiyo protested that the trader should not go as he was wasting his time.

The trader then took a kitchen knife and stabbed Opiyo in the neck. Opiyo was rushed to St Paul’s Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. Sub-county Police Commander Sammy Koskey said the suspect will be arraigned in court.
