Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has transferred all police officers stationed at the Isebania border days after it was invaded by demonstrators.
In the melee, four protestors were shot dead as two others sustained injuries.
The transfer, Kindiki said in a statement, will enable the government to facilitate in-depth and conclusive investigations.
Additionally, Kindiki says all Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and Anti-counterfeit and Immigration officers serving at the border have been transferred.
"Any officer who through collusion and corruption allows contraband or counterfeit goods to get into the country will not be transferred to another station but interdicted and prosecuted,"said Kindiki in a statement on Wednesday.
He has appealed to the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands or retaliating by destroying property in vengeance.
"As a country, we must resolve all grievances peaceably, no matter how aggrieved one is. I appeal to all Kenyans to desist from taking the law into their own hands, retaliation and destruction of property in pursuit of justice.
"As your security minister, I will not allow lawlessness and disorder to rule," Kindiki affirmed.
Further, the Interior Cabinet Secretary stated that no police officer will serve in one station for more than three years.
Kindiki has also condoled with families of those who lost their loved ones in the police-public scuffle and promised to hold to account those responsible.
