Nairobian Defender: KNH seemingly remains unmoved by plight of conjoined twins

The Nairobian Defender, in its April 22-28 edition ran a heart-rending story of two conjoined twins who have been lying at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for more than one year.

The situation has moved from bad to worse for Caroline Mukiri and her little angels as KNH seemingly remains unmoved.

No one knows if the hospital is oblivious to the suffering of the mother and her twins or its just negligence. The Nairobian Defender will stay on this case until someone at KNH decides to do the right thing for the twins before it is too late.

Caroline told The Defender that no one has come to see her since we published the story. She adds that she only sees doctors passing her room to attend to other patients. “I had requested that I be discharged, but they have not replied to me to date. My mother was here last week all the way from Meru.

She sat here waiting to meet doctors from 9am till 4pm without any success. She decided to go back to Meru at 6pm,” reveals Caroline amid tears.

The expanders they put on her twin babies, she says, have added more salt to injury.

“They have protruded and I suspect they might cause my twins more problems. What I want is just for them to discharge me so that I can seek help somewhere else, since they are not really helping me,” said Caroline.

Caroline’s request remains the same.

“I want to know if they intend to carry out the operation, and if yes, when? Is there something I am not being told”

Feedback from our readers

Eastlando: KNH staff need to be people-focused. Why treat people like animals simply because they are poor?

May help come your way quick Caroline.

Estlee: KNH needs to take this case seriously...Saa hii! Enough of treating poor people like urchins! Thank you Defender.
