Preparations are in top gear ahead of the arrival of the 2022 Fifa World Cup™ Original Trophy in Nairobi on May 26-27 courtesy of Coca Cola.

The global tour of the famous trophy which started on May 5 in Qatar, the hosts of this year’s World Cup finals between November 21 and December 18, will arrive in Kenya on May 26 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia before leaving for South Africa on May 28.

Football’s greatest prize, the 6.1 kilogram 18-karat gold original FIFA World Cup trophy is coming to Kenya courtesy of the Coca Cola Company and will be on display in the Capital Nairobi on May 26 and 27.

The trophy, which weighs 6.1 kilograms and is made of 18-karat gold, will be on display in Nairobi on May 26 and 27 with President Uhuru Kenyatta the only Kenyan allowed to touch it.

However, local fans will have the golden chance of posing for photos with it.

According to Coca Cola Marketing Manager (Kenya) Miriam Limo, the trophy will be accompanied by a former world cup winner.

“This going to be a great moment for Kenyans as we are doing everything possible to ensure everybody involved enjoys the occasion,” said Limo.

“We urge Kenyans to come out in large numbers and catch a glimpse of the famous trophy. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you cannot afford to miss.

“The trophy will be in the country for two days before going to South Africa. But expect another major announcement regarding the tour on Wednesday.”
