Nigerian music legend 2Baba, real name Innocent Idibia, has left fans stunned after publicly declaring his love for Hon. Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
The revelation comes just weeks after announcing his divorce from actress Annie Idibia, his wife of over a decade.
In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the African Queen hitmaker directly addressed swirling rumours, defending Osawaru against allegations that she was the reason for his split.
"Yes, I have seen so many things, so many false narratives and malicious nonsense after I posted that stuff. Hon. Natasha has been dragged, called all sorts of names, and labeled a home breaker. But she is a young, brilliant, amazing woman and had nothing to do with what happened between me and Annie," 2Baba stated firmly.
The African Queen crooner added, “Yes, I love her. She is amazing, she is cool, I want to marry her.”
2Baba’s unexpected confession sent shockwaves across social media, leaving fans divided. Some questioned how quickly 2Baba had moved on, while others speculated on the real reasons behind his breakup with Annie.
The singer and now estranged wife, Annie, who tied the knot in 2012, had long been seen as one of Nigeria’s most enduring celebrity couples.
Their lavish Dubai wedding in 2013 was a grand affair, and their love story was immortalised in his hit song African Queen, where Annie played his love interest.
However, cracks in their marriage had been visible for years. Their relationship had weathered cheating scandals, public controversies, and personal struggles, but the final straw remained unclear.
The first confirmation of their split came in a now-deleted Instagram post, where 2Baba revealed that he and Annie had been separated for some time and were in the process of divorcing.
While the post was quickly removed, he later addressed the matter in a live video, stating: “No one hacked my account. I said what I said. I come in peace.”
Adding to the drama, both 2Baba and Annie unfollowed each other on social media, a clear signal that the separation was final.
The entertainment industry quickly took sides, with Young, Famous & African stars rallying behind Annie.
Media personality Toke Makinwa questioned the timing of 2Baba’s revelation, writing: “Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that's not serving them, but why bring this online now?”
Reality TV star Khanyi Mbau did not hold back her criticism, calling out 2Baba for making the divorce public. "Nothing makes me sick like a man who runs to social media when things go south in his relationship. @official2baba, disgusting! Annie does not walk alone."
Meanwhile, Luis Munana shared a behind-the-scenes clip of Annie laughing and posing with Shakib Cham, husband to her former rival Zari Hassan, leaving fans to speculate whether she was masking her pain or embracing a fresh start.
