A long-drawn conflict between Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and MCAs has ended.
The feud had seen some operations nearly paralysed as the battle for supremacy escalated, leading to Kawira's impeachment.
The Governor and the Ward Reps had both adopted a hard stance over various issues, chief among them being the ward fund.
The MCAs had raised various allegations against her and made attempts to impeach her.
After the impeachment debacle, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua embarked on reconciling Kawira and the MCAs, in a process that took over a week.
The leaders camped at Mr Gachagua's Nairobi office for days, as efforts to reconcile them took centre stage.
Now, the Governor and the MCAs led by Speaker Ayub Bundi, after another round of talks chaired by Woman Rep Karambu Kailemia in Meru, have put their differences behind them.
"As leaders, we have decided to be united and to focus on development for the people. I thank God as well as President Ruto and his deputy for dedicating time to the talks that ended well.
The past is now behind us. We are now one. Those who celebrated when there was no unity should understand we are now a team and will work together," she said.
Her deputy Mutuma Ethingia said all wards will have an equal share of development.
Bundi said with the differences settled, they had handed Kawira, Woman Rep Karambu Kailemia, and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi the duty of informing President William Ruto and Mr Gachagua that they were now united.
"We are happy because the issues we had between the office of the governor and the Assembly are now settled. We want to assure Meru and the entire country that we are now united and for the remaining four and half years we will work together," said Bundi, who has served in the Assembly as both the Majority Leader (2013-2017) and Minority Leader (2017-2022).
Majority Leader Evans Mawira said the differences saw the MCAs reject seven of Kawira's CEC nominees forcing her to work with only three.
"But we have decided to solve our differences to be able to work together. For the interest of Meru, we have put aside all differences. We have told the governor we are ready to do what is required from us," he said.
Mawira said they will approve the Executives and Chief Officers they rejected, the supplementary budget, and all that is needed from the Assembly.
