Kenya’s Covid positivity rate at 7.6 per cent as 508 test positive

Some 508 people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from a 6,664 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry now says the country’s positivity rate is 7.6 per cent.

So far, there are 182,393 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 1,940,066 tests conducted since the onset of the disease.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement also said that another five hundred and thirteen patients have recovered from the coronavirus. 296 were discharged from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program while two hundred and forty-three discharged from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 124,392.

Another eighteen patients have died of Covid according to the ministry’s latest statistics.

“All are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of March, April and June,” Kagwe noted.

This pushes the death toll to 3,574.

“1,037 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,750 patients are under Home Based Isolation and Care program. 101 patients are in the ICU, thirty-three of whom are on ventilatory support and fifty-two on supplemental oxygen.”

The Ministry says sixteen patients are under vaccination.

On vaccination, Kenya has so far inoculated over one million people. 1,001,711 first Covid jabs have been administered while second doses are 277,312.
