Ulinzi Starlets players celebrate winning the FKF Cup.[FKF]

Ulinzi Starlets are the 2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women's Cup champions.

Starlets retained the title they won last year after thrashing Nakuru City Queens 3-1 at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Mercy Airo scored a brace as Neddy Atieno sealed the win for the soldiers. Second half substitute Merceline Wafula scored Nakuru's consolation goal.

Ulinzi went home with Sh500,000 as the runners up took home Sh250,000.

Division One side Kibera Soccer Ladies meanwhile saw off Premier League side Kisumu All Starlets 4-2 to finish second-runners up in the third place playoffs.

Winnie Gwatanda scored a brace as Zainabu Saki and Nancy Atako sealed the win where Trezer Manyala and Beverline Adika netted Kisumu's consolation goals.

Kibera's Atako finished as the tournament's top scorer with 11 goals.

Ulinzi coach Joseph Wambua was relieved after winning the gong as he congratulated his players for not ending the 2022-2023 season empty handed.

"Congratulations to the girls for retaining the title. It has not been an easy walk in the park and am glad we kept the focus despite missing out on the top prize; the Premier League title.

"We end the campaign on a high note and this will go in handy to motivate the players ahead of next season," said Wambua.
