The Standard Group PLC are the official free to air broadcast partner of the Euro 2020.

This means Kenyans will now be able to watch the European tournament free of charge at home on KTN Home, KTN News and listen live on Radio Maisha.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony at the Standard Group headquarters along Mombasa road, Standard Group CEO Orlando Lyomu said the deal came to fruition with the group’s partnership with TV Media Sport.

 “This has been enabled by our partnership with TV Media Sport, who are going to be our partners. They are a long time media partner for Uefa in sub-Saharan Africa,” said Lyomu

Lyomu said the deal was exclusive to the Standard Group and its platforms.

“The matches will be broadcast on KTN Home, KTN News, Radio Maisha and the digital platforms. This partnership will come with match highlights and daily analysis to make sure that everyone appreciates what we are offering,” added Lyomu.

The Standard CEO further reiterated the company’s commitment in supporting sport in the country such as golf, shooting, and football.

“I think the last couple of years have demonstrated how we have supported sports even those that were considered fringe. We want to continue being the preferred channel,” he added.

KTN Sports Editor Hassan Jumaa expressed his team’s desire to deliver on Euro 2020 saying they already have plans to roll out new shows that will be tailored towards the tournament.

“We are really happy to have Euro on board and this is an exciting period for us as we will also get to interact with football fans,” said Jumaa.

A total of 24 teams qualified for Euro 2020. The tournament was initially set to be held in 2020 but due to Covid-19 pandemic, the organizers to push it to June this year.

Unlike in previous editions, the 16th edition of Uefa Euro 2020 is being staged across the continent for the first time in the competition’s 60-year history, with 12 designated host cities in all.
