Real Madrid to rival Arsenal for Porto sensation Andre Silva

Arsenal will have to beat off competition from Real Madrid if they want to sign Andre Silva, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in the Portuguese sensation and were weighing up a £20million deal this month.

Porto's current financial situation means that they are likely to sell some names this January - but it is believed that Silva is one of those who will not be leaving this month.

And Real Madrid's transfer ban is up in the summer, meaning they are free to enter the race for Silva's signature.

Prolific Silva has netted 14 times this season for his club and could have been seen as a long-term replacement to Alexis Sanchez, if his contract battle continues.
