Guardiola will leave in the summer and the German side's supporters have claimed that they were never keen on him to begin with

Bayern Munich fans have responded to Pep Guardiola's summer exit to Manchester City by declaring that they never really warmed to the Spaniard to begin with.

The former Barcelona coach will leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season to take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad, and the Bayern supporters made their feelings clear during Saturday's 3-1 win over Darmstadt.

Two goals from Thomas Muller and a strike from Robert Lewandowski was enough for the Bundesliga champions, despite a goal from Sandro Wagner for the visitors - but it was activity in the stands that really caught the attention.

In a defiant response to Guardiola's decision to abscond, the Bayern support unveiled a banner that translated as: "Pep was never our thing".

Guardiola's decision to join the Citizens was confirmed at the end of January , with City admitting that discussions to land the sought-after coach begun four years ago.

"The contract is for thee years," read the official statement from City. "These negotiations were a re-commencement of discussions that were curtailed in 2012."

Meanwhile Juventus star Paul Pogba has admitted that he would jump at the chance to play under Guardiola.

The former Manchester United youngster has been linked with a move to the likes of City and Chelsea, and the France international midfielder would like to work with Guardiola.

He said: "All the players respect him. You only have to look at him and you want to learn from him. I've heard that he improves every player. He is a football icon.

"Right now I am still with Juventus, but clearly if you have chance to work with someone like him, you can only develop further."
