The Kenya Commercial Bank management is expected to make a decision on the fate of the club, players and coach Rishadi Shedu today after the club was relegated from the Sportpesa Premier League (SPL).

Shedu confirmed to Feverpitch yesterday that he had been summoned and said he will decide his fate after the meeting.

“We are meeting with the management today and we expect that the fate of the technical bench and players will be decided then. The fact is that there is no more top up (money) from the broadcast sponsors so we need to know whether the club will be there or not,” he said.

Shedu’s contract with the club runs out next year and he pointed out the need to make a decision about his future quickly.

“This meeting is important because we need to know our fate and then make decisions based on that.”

Shedu admitted that his continuous absence from the technical bench due to illness could have affected the team but also insists that failure to recruit quality players was their biggest undoing.

“The major reason for our relegation can partly be blamed to my long absence. I was not consistent on the technical bench and this could have affected the team. The biggest reason is the fact that we relied on Paul Kiongera too much such that when he was not available we struggled and there was no one to score goals for us,” he said.

Shedu pointed out that the team had failed to replace some of their best players who helped them finish in sixth position two years ago.

"Two years ago we had some of the best players on the local scene and that is why we finished sixth. When they left we did not replace them and it cost us,” he said.

The club let go of Jacob Keli who was that year named KPL Player of the Year.
