K’Ogalo’s new coach to tame negative energy among fans

BY JOHN LAWRENCE

Nairobi,Kenya:Seen as the man to lift the club from the League title drought and help the club in reclaiming its lost glory, Gor Mahia FC’s new head coach Bobby Williamson has a new way of doing things. Formerly an outstanding player for both Rangers and West Bromwich Albion, Williamson seems to be on a mission to restore order and sanity in the club, unlike his predecessor Zdravko Logarusic whose antics both on and off the pitch were no secret.

Speaking to FeverPitch, Williamson said: “I dont read newspapers, I don’t watch television and no social media for me. I stay focused on my job, that’s all. Let the press do their job and mine will be seen from the results on the pitch.”

The Scott seemed unmoved by pressure from the ever expectant Green Army, explaining that he cares less what people say about him and also stating that he will remain on his role as a head coach. Gor are second in the league with two games at hand and the clash with the sugar millers will be coach Williamson’s first asignment after being officially unveiled by Gor last week.

Asked about his preparations for the game and whether he’s got any knowledge about his opponents, he said: “I’ll speak more about it after the game. I actually don’t know much about the opponents but It’s all about how we impose ourselves on the game. That has always been my philosophy.”

Williamson also told FeverPitch that he will soon issue instructions on Gor Mahia players on how to handle both the press and issues to do with social media. “The players should concentrate on the game, especially at this time. We don’t need any form of negative energy. It will only be good if we all remain focused on matters football. Too much talk and negative energy is never good.”

short-term contract

Williamson called upon Gor’s fans to give the club’s latest signing Patrick Oboya time to gain back his fitness. Speaking ahead of Gor Mahia’s Tusker Premier League clash with Chemelil Sugar today, the Scott expressed his delight that Slovakian Football Federation finally sent Oboya’s ITC saying. “He is cleared and we are happy that we can now use him in the coming matches,” he said.

The former AFC Leopards forward signed a short-term contract with Gor Mahia in June, but has been unable to play due to delays in International Transfer Certificate.

“He has not played for about eight months, so it’s upon him to prove this further if he is up to the game and he will get the opportunity,” added Williamson.
