Two teachers have sued for unfair dismissal after they were let go while on maternity leave.

Caren Mbuya and Sharon Nyangule, who were hired by the Board of Management (BoM) of Mugai Secondary School in Malava, Kakamega County, are suing acting school head Gaudencia Masinde Munyole, the BoM, and the Parents Teachers Association chairperson.

"We proceeded on maternal leave on October 18 and October 28 last year, whereupon the school head, who is also acting principal Mrs Munyolo, unlawfully and without any notice sacked us," Ms Mbuya and Ms Nyangule say in their court papers.
