Six gift ideas for men who say ‘I don’t want a gift’

Gifting them can be narrowed down to their hobbies and interests (Image: Shutterstock)

Gifting someone who says they don’t want a gift is hard. But here is what I hear, gift me something amazing!

One of the reason men will give for rejecting gifts is because they probably have everything they could ever want.

Well, that may be true and an inventory of what they own may reveal forgotten stuff stored away collecting dust. And that will leave you strapped for ideas.

What you will want to do at this point is identify what they love. Is it gadgets, home improvement or fitness?

Once you have narrowed down their hobbies and interests, think along ideas that will improve their lives and make things much easier for them.

So, whether it’s for their birthday, anniversary or the holidays, let it be practical and thoughtful.

Here are some gift ideas for your dad, brother or partner when they say they don’t want gifts:

  • Sign them up for a class

If you have noticed him taking up some new interests or hobbies he can’t stop talking about over and over, surprise him with a fully paid course.

It could be a professional or creative course just gauge his seriousness then make the decision to sign him up for those classes.

  • Gift cards

I’m yet to find someone who doesn’t like gift cards. Although they may feel impersonal, it is the best way to ensure they get whatever it is they want.

You can purchase one from their favorite stores and places they love to visit and spend their time in. This will definitely move them.

  • Time

The best things are free and your time could be one of the best gifts you could ever give someone like your dad or grandpa especially if you don’t get to see them often.

Set aside some time from your crazy schedule, plan a date and spend the time together just the two of you. This is a great opportunity to catch up and take them somewhere they have never been but would enjoy going there.

  • Subscriptions

During this pandemic, many of us are cash strapped and that meant having to do away with extra expenses like subscriptions.

Surprise them by paying for their cable, internet or any other subscription you know he may enjoy. Go all out and sign him up for gift boxes too.

  • A card game

When friends and family come together over some beer and food, it is always a great time. Make it even more interesting by getting for him a wild pack of card games.

This ultimate accessory will make him the life of any party. Do not be tempted to pick raunchy cards unless they are for your partner. Keep it PG because it is all about playing together and having a good laugh.

  • Razor blade sharpener

If he is the man who prefers to shave his beards at home, this is one gift he will forever cherish. Razor blade sharpeners will sharpen any blade and make them last much longer.

He will also get a cleaner and closer shave every time besides saving him tons of money he would have spent buying new razors every month.
