Don’t waste time and energy chasing after things that don’t matter

I recently bought a book titled, How To Make A Million Before Lunch. I found it very interesting. How in the world could someone even think that it is possible to make a million between 6am and noon? In most of my forums, I ask my audience the same question and different people always give me different answers.

Someone said it is very simple and easy to make a million before lunch, just step out there and find one million people and ask each one of them to give you one shilling!

Another argued that to make it even easier, just get 50 people to give you Sh20,000, yet someone added that you can also get 10 people to give you Sh100,000 each or just two people to give you half a million each. Of course the ultimate will be getting one person who can give you Sh1 million!

All these answers are correct. But, getting one million people to give you one shilling each is a lot harder. I believe it would take almost the same energy, if not less, to convince one million people to give you a bob each, and to convince one person to give you a million bob. The choice is yours.

In this life, it takes the same energy to pursue small dreams and to pursue big ones. Therefore, I would advise you not to sweat the small stuff, because it takes the same protocol, frustrations, time and resources to close a deal worth Sh10,000 or one that’s valued at Sh1 million. Let the small stuff go.

Go for the big stuff, be daring and adventurous. Those who lead great lives are not different from you, they simply refused to settle for the small stuff. You can decide today to choose the same path.

The lion is the king of the jungle, not because he is the biggest animal in the wild, because the elephant is. The lion is king, not because he is the tallest animal in the wild, the giraffe is .The lion is king, not because he is the strongest animal in the wild, the buffalo is. The lion is not the king of the jungle because he is the fastest animal in the world, the cheetah is.

The lion is king because of its attitude, an attitude of leadership, an attitude of rulership, an attitude of majesty and command. You never see a lion in the jungle chasing after a guinea pig or a dik-dik. It doesn’t matter how hungry a lion is, it will not bother about the guinea pig, however hungry it is or close the guinea pig comes.

 It will never charge after it because it knows that it will take him the same effort, energy and strategy to catch a guinea pig as it would to catch a zebra or a giraffe. As such, Mr. Lion will tell comrade guinea pig, “No, thank you, I am not interested.”

Even if it catches the guinea pig, it will just be a snack, so it would rather wait out a zebra which will turn out to be breakfast, lunch and supper with enough left over for scavengers.

My advice for you is: Do not sweat the small stuff. Dream big and be daring because you never know how far you can go in life until you are willing to go too far.
