Ashok Sunny is famed for dressing President William Ruto (LEFT) and members of parliament.
Kenyans have just ushered in a new government led by former Deputy President William Ruto who was elected the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya. One thing that sticks out like a sore thumb in the new goverment is the fashion sense of his Deputy President Rigathi Gachagwa. 'Riggy G' as he is popularly known has been heavily criticised for his tasteless fashion sense, which he has promised to revamp in three months. "People have raised questions about how I dress, but I want to tell them that I had no luxury to think about dressing. I was caring about my life, staying safe. But now that it is all over, in another three months, people will like what they see..." he said. Well not to worry Bwana DP, a Kenyan designer for high quality bespoke garments, Ashok Sunny says he is up to the task. "What the DP needs is a customized wardrobe to bring out his character, body structure and also the office he represents. A bespoke suit is mostly important for him so that the suits not only fit him well but also define his stature as the second in command in Kenya. We create for our clients a wardrobe and image that brings out their character and best qualities," said the CEO of Ashok Sunny Tailored Ltd, situated in Town Mokhtar Dader Street. The company which started from a kibanda with one tailoring machine, has been in business for nine years and currently employs 20 tailors. "Our work speaks for itself and we have dressed notable figures including President William Ruto, Head of DCI, former and present parliamentarians, influential lawyers and CEOs in Kenya," he told The Nairobian. Ashok Sunny specializes in high end men's garments using fabrics from Britain, Italy, France and Belgium. Cost of their suits range between Sh100,000- Sh850,000 depending on quality of fabric and tailoring. "We make high quality bespoke suits and what pure bespoke simply means it's fully handmade, inch by inch fittings using high quality fabrics and the best tailoring techniques," Ashok told The Nairobian, adding that he is anxiously waiting for the call from the DP Rigathi Gachagua.
