Man arrested for filming child pornography

Living

A young man in Nairobi's Harambee estate has denied being in possession of explicit images and videos of underage children.

Brian Mutali Wanyama appeared before a Makadara Court, accused of contravening the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act. He was allegedly found with the pornographic material depicting unknown children on his mobile phone on various dates between July 21 and August 23.

Mutali denied enticing children, mostly aged 10 to 15 years, to explicitly engage in irresponsible sexual behaviour in return for a reward. He would then allegedly upload the images to Google through his Gmail account.

He was arrested in Buru Buru estate by the DCI's Anti-Human Trafficking Child Protection Unit, which was acting on intelligence.

Police said they are yet to conduct a forensic examination to retrieve evidence from a mobile phone and laptop confiscated from him.

Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia released Wanyama on a bond of Sh100,000 or a cash bail of Sh50,000. The case will be heard on February 2 next year.
