Willy Paul seems to be on a roll these days, releasing one song after the other with the much needed consistency. After “digiri” the gospel artiste has released a new one dubbed Pilipili.
The song, only a few hours old on YouTube has already sparked mixed reactions among his fans. Despite the fact that most are in agreement that the song is good in terms of musical composition and that he is a talented artiste, a good number of them agree that he should quit gospel because the song has little to no relevance with the scriptures.
The first time people thought he should quit gospel altogether, was when he released a collaboration with Size 8 called Tiga Wana. The controversial song got many talking, regardless, he has been releasing songs that do not carry any gospel messages like Digiri, and I do featuring Jamaican songstress Alaine.
Pili pili is also said to be a replica of a Tanzanian song, Su by Yamoto band featuring Ruby with few changes. However, the song itself is a little different from his current music and has a bongo feel to it. That being said, there is nothing new under the sun really, is there?
