Rapper Wangechi Waweru is happy to have cheated death, twice.

Early this month, the 21-year old  student of Financial Economics in the School of Finance and Applied Economics (SFAE) at Strathmore University, was at home when tragedy struck the varsity.

“I’m just about to clear school, so I was home studying for my exams. I remember a cousin calling me to find out if I was safe, but I was totally clueless. When I went on Twitter, that’s when I saw what was going on. God did not want me to go through more than I have this year,” Wangechi told Heads Up.

Last year, Wangechi was involved in a horrible road accident and was admitted to the ICU for a month. The accident also claimed her best friend Tiona Wangechi’s life.

Despite the tragedies, this year, also defined her career as she was one of the artistes who featured on Coke Studio Season 3 alongside Neyo.

Wangechi described her experience with Ne-Yo as the best and revealed they are still in touch.

“I recently texted him to congratulate him on his engagement to his long-time girlfriend. He responded promptly,” said an elated Wangechi.
