Secrets for a flawless skin

Living

Flawless skin1. Moisturize:

Whether your skin is dry or oily, it still needs moisture. To prevent ashy, dry skin, use a rich cream preferably with natural emollients like shea butter, cocoa butter and olive oil. If you have oily skin, use a non-greasy moisturizer that will not clog pores.

2. Minimize breakouts:

Try to keep your hands away from your face. When you touch your face, you are unwittingly transferring bacteria to your skin. Be careful what you put on your face and cheek, and regularly sanitize your phone. Do not pick at pimples or any other rashes, as this causes scarring and creates a vicious cycle.

3. The right foundation:

While selecting your foundation, try it on your forehead and just above your jaw line. Test out two or three shades in natural light then opt for the one that appears invisible.

4. Dark under eye circles:

To minimize those bags, commit to getting a good night’s sleep. Keep your room quiet and dark and switch off electronic devices. If you still have dark under-eye circles, check that you are regularly drinking enough water. Emergency quick fixes include placing a chilled metal spoon on your eyes from the freeze and using cucumbers, chamomile and normal tea bags for a few minutes. A good concealer will help camouflage an occasional rough night.

5. Lipsticks:

Keep your lips moisturized and exfoliated then show them off with a nice bright matt lipstick. Stay away from lipsticks with a frosty finish or ones that are too glossy.

6. Powder:

Mineral foundation is excellent in this heat, especially for shinier or oilier skin types. If you have dry skin, a cream to powder foundation is good. If you are over 35, powder might not be your friend. This is because it can settle deep within the creases of your skin, exaggerating wrinkles and making you look older.

7. Sun screen:

Just because you have a darker complexion doesn’t mean your skin won’t get affected by the harmful UV rays. Invest in a good sunscreen and apply it before you leave the house.
