Yvonne Wamalwa: I am open to dating but I have not met the right man yet

Living

Yvonne WamalwaIn the past, Yvonne has been linked to prominent personalities. She, however, refutes such claims, stating that she is not dating.

She further adds that although she is willing to go out and date again, she has yet to meet a man who matches her interest.

“I am open to dating but I have not met the right man yet. My advice to women is to be in control. Stay in school; do not settle, buy your own car and house so that when you meet your man, you are also contributing something to the table,” she says.

FAMILY CONTROVERSIES

What about the recent court cases by her stepchildren who are suing her for misusing family funds.

She politely declines, saying that she is not allowed to talk about the matter as it is in court.

However, she makes the following observations:

“Luhya leaders tend to get jealous and suspicious about a dead leader’s sons rising and taking over in his stead. There is insecurity when a political leader dies; those who remain do not go out of their way to help push the sons. They are perceived as threats. A case in point is the Muliro family — no one helped his kids.”

Further, she sends a direct message to late vice presidents’ sons advising them to go on with their education as a means of their own personal growth and that she is available and glad to support them should the need arise.

Controversy aside, how has she managed to maintain her youthful looks for these many years?

“I do not gym or run. I hate pain. But I am a vegetarian and very conscious of what I put in my body. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years. I am a healthy eater: I eat a lot of organic foods. You will find me juicing everything from fruits to raw vegetables. I love brown ugali, nduma, sweet potatoes, kunde and terere,” she says with her disarming smile.

Not many people know about her life as a prayerful woman. At her own quite time, Yvonne listens to gospel tunes by Chris Tomline, Sinach and other favourites.

For fun, Yvonne loves long drives with her daughter Michelle.
