The passion of a new romance can make you so blind to problems even when they become glaringly apparent.

While there is no denying that relationships are complicated, some deal breakers are too hard to let go no matter how blissfully ignorant you may choose to be.

As human beings, we are inherently good-to some degree of course and deep down we believe and assume other people have good intentions just because we do.

Sadly, you never know the psychopath you may cross paths with and get into a relationship with.

It may be all fun and games until the red flags hit you smack on the face and you get to see partner for who they truly are.

So, whether you have just started or you’re in a long-term commitment, here are universal red flags you shouldn’t ignore.

i.Poor communication

If you find yourself at a place where you can’t express yourself emotionally to your partner without them shutting down or downplaying your feelings, you need to take note.

For a relationship to flourish it needs honesty and openness from both parties.

If they leave you to deal with situations on your own and your requests are always met with the dreaded silent treatment or moodiness, you need to watch out.

ii.Your relationship is a secret

It is understandable that not everyone likes to put their personal life out there.

But if they’re hiding having anything to do with you from friends and family, do yourself a favor and check out.

He or she could be using you for their own agenda or worse still they may be married or in another committed relationship.

A relationship is something to be happy about and should not be kept under wraps which in that case suggests something is seriously off.

iii.No apologies

When they do something that hurt or offend you and you let them know, they will find a way to talk themselves out of the situation probably blaming you for making it happen.

They will create excuses and justify their behavior to avoid saying sorry at all costs.

To determine how bad the situation is, ask yourself when was the last time they ever apologized? Genuinely apologized.

In most cases you will realize you’re the one doing all the apologizing whether you’re right or wrong.

iv.Super secretive

If you don’t know where they work, live or who their friends are you should be concerned.

If everything about them is a secret how sure are you you’re the only one in their life, they’re not involved in illegal activities or have addiction problems?

If they can keep small things away from you imagine the big things they have hidden.

You should also watch how they act with their phones and how security protected they are. If you can’t use their phone for whatever reason you need to be weary.

v.People don’t like them

If your friends and family bring up doubt and questions about your significant other, you should probably listen.

Sometimes people from the outside looking in see things we do not see especially when blinded by love.

Chances are they have seen red flags and deal breakers you haven’t and out of concern they have raised it with you.
