FIRST DATE

EDNA: We worked at the same place but we had never spoken to each other till he came to inspect my work. I recall being so tired on the day of inspection that I did not talk much to him or anyone else. I did not notice any signs of interest towards me until three months later when I received a call from him.

MIKE: I had gone for a market visit, or what she calls an inspection. She caught my eye and I thought she was very beautiful, calm and relaxed. However, I did not say anything until three months when I made contact.

EDNA: Six months after that, he invited me for coffee at Java in Galleria Mall. We spoke at length about our lives.

THE PROPOSAL

MIKE: With her sister's help I made sure the proposal was top notch and of course a surprise. We started with getting the ring, then informed all her close friends of the plan, a WhatsApp group was quickly formed for coordination and planning, the friends were all aligned and a date was set. Amid all the planning, I still feared she would say no.

EDNA: He made it look like any other date, hence I did not see it coming. I was in shock when I saw him down on one knee at the restaurant, a golden ring in hand asking me to marry him.

MIKE: She was in complete shock. She hugged me as she cried.

THE DRAMA

EDNA: Our biggest challenge was dealing with suppliers, most of them were unreliable. It rained all night long on the eve of the wedding and for most part of the wedding day itself. As a result, the decor was spoiled, all the drapings were soiled so much that the decor guy had to replace them and re-arrange the church venue setting. This delayed our ceremony.

WITH HINDSIGHT

EDNA: Through this time, we have learned that for a healthy relationship, understanding each other is the best thing to do and changing to suit your partner goes a long way in making the relationship stronger.

MEMORABLE MOMENT

MIKE: Reciting the vows.  I was choking back tears the entire time. She actually ended up crying. It was such an emotional time.

EDNA: When I started walking down the aisle and saw Mike's smiling face. He was really jovial for a man who is as reserved as him.
