Ati I'm a what?! Women enjoy sex too, not just men

Lady Speak
I will continue to enjoy myself and others fully and freely.

I cannot count the number of times I’ve been told “Eish, I didn’t know you’re a bad girl” and this statement makes me roll my eyes to the high heavens and back. What is a bad girl? Who is a bad girl? Does she have a stamp on her forehead that says “I’m a bad girl.” What’s even more puzzling is that this statement always comes after intimate sexual encounters with different people. So I understand this as, you equate my love for sex to being a “bad girl.”

People, please help me understand how enjoying sex makes a woman a “bad girl”; are we saying that sex is dirty and should be frowned upon? That it is only enjoyed by those who are immoral? Secondly, why is it that when guys love sex, it’s a normal thing but when it’s a woman, Oh my goodness, what the hell, there’s something up with this chick. You mean to tell me that all this time you men have been shagging girls you assume don’t enjoy sex? You might as well just cuddle up with your right hand and a bottle of Nivea cocoa butter if those are your sentiments.

Honestly, I just think that it’s weird, this double standard we have in society where women are shamed and labelled for being open about their sexuality, whereas men are either praised or it’s just seen as normal for them. There is nothing “bad” about enjoying the act of giving and receiving pleasure. There is nothing “bad” about being open about it. As long as you’re being safe and true to yourself, I don’t get what the big deal is.

And before someone comments that premarital sex is a sin in the Bible and Q’uran, I am not a Christian and neither am I Muslim, so please come up with an argument better than that. I am more than ready to engage with you and see where this mentality stems from. Until then, I will continue to enjoy myself and others fully and freely.
