BRIDE: Brenda Wambani
GROOM: Dennis Kamau
DATE: APRIL 23, 2016
GUESTS: 400
VENUE: Brookhaven Gardens
BUDGET: Over Sh1 million
FIRST DATE:
BRENDA: We met through a mutual friend. A week later after being introduced, we had our first date. At the time, Westgate was the in thing so we went there for ice cream then moved to Java for coffee in the evening.
THE PROPOSAL:
BRENDA: He proposed after three years. The proposal was amazing. We were in Naivasha on a weekend trip and on the second night there, he popped the question with all the hotel staff singing along. It was a major surprise! I still smile when I think about it.
THE STORY BEHIND THE WEDDING
Finances were a big challenge but we thank God family and friends came through for us.
The weather was also pathetic on the wedding day. It was raining but Brookhaven Gardens ensured we were comfortable. They did their best to ensure the grounds were habitable.
WITH HINDSIGHT
BRENDA: We have learnt to always put family first and maintain good relations because they go a long way in ensuring that your day is a success. We have also learnt that Dennis and I make a strong team when we put our mind to something.
Prayer is very important in a relationship. Without God, we would have given up. But as we kept praying, together, God kept giving us strength to push on.
DENNIS: Our pastor told us that in order for a marriage to survive, you have to keep the fire burning even if it is only a cup of coffee you can afford, don’t stop going on dates during the planning and even after the wedding. Also remember to respect each others space.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
While going for our honeymoon in Maasai Mara, we got stuck. The river apparently had washed off the road. We had to wait for three hours for it to pass then continue with our journey.
