Sprucing up a small bathroom

Some bathrooms are so small that there is barely enough room to turn around. When it comes to decorating them, you must be very creative. Work with the space and the light you have and stick with lighter colours. This makes the room seem a bit bigger.

It might seem like the bright colours are a bit overwhelming in such a small place, but they will feel right when you are done.

If you don’t have a lot of light, the bright paint colours will reflect the existing light in the room. Opt for a reflective paint for this reason and also to help protect your walls and paint job from the water splashes.

Get creative with your storage to reduce clutter.

If you don’t want everything to be bright, go for a darker tile for your floor, or choose your shower curtains and drapes in a darker shade. Just remember darker tiles show watermarks easily, which means you may have to clean your floor more often. A matching rug on the floor where you step out of the shower can minimise that problem.

It is also important to think about storage space. In a small room, the last thing you want is clutter. Look for creative ways to store your bathroom necessities. You can have everything else right, but the clutter will kill the feel of the room in a heartbeat.

Next, think about where you are going to hang your towels. Larger bathrooms can have towel racks hung in the room and it will look good, but in a small bathroom, there is no space for that.

Look for towel racks that might go on the back of your door that allows you to hang multiple towels from the same rack. This saves your dÈcor from looking cluttered.
