EVE BRIDAL: How did you two meet?

Dora: We met in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan where we both worked as aid workers. We began attending social functions sponsored by the Catholic Diocese and things went from there to dates at Westgate Mall while we were on on leave.

EB: What attracted you to each other?

Jake: Dorah is beautiful, confident in her work and loves me.

Dora: Jake is handsome and humble; traits I always hoped for in a life partner.

EB: How was the dating experience?

Jake: The dating experience was not a normal one. As I continued working in South Sudan, Dorah returned to Nairobi as war broke out in the Nuba Mountains. However, there were lots of Skype dates until I visited her.  While in Kenya, we would travel to her family home near Kisumu and take safaris at Lake Nakuru and Naivasha.

EB: What did you like about it?

Dora: We enjoyed the travelling and spending quality time together, knowing we would be separated for long periods of time. We valued the time we spent together, hence enjoyed the movies, the meals, and just holding hands in addition to each other’s company.

EB: Did he meet your dream proposal?

Dora: No, he was too shy to get down on one knee in the Italian restaurant at the Junction. But he did compensate by proposing on Valentines Day. The manner in which he proposed was okay, as he did look me in the eye and gave me the ring.  I was overjoyed and I said, “Yes”.

EB: Did you have traditional ceremonies?

Dora: We had traditional introduction ceremonies after the proposal. Dowry was negotiated and paid to the parents.

EB: What was the most interesting part of the wedding?

Jake: The traditional dancing at the wedding and reception venue was simply magical.

EB: You arrived in a stretch Chrysler, what was the inspiration behind it?

Dora: We did not want the wedding party to show up in a safari van, but in a better style.

EB: Where was the honeymoon? How was it?

Jake: We took a honeymoon to Kisumu and it was nice. We enjoy Kisumu and wanted to go some place where we could relax after and an exhausting month of preparing the wedding and new apartment. We are looking at another trip to Germany in May 3013.
