Socialite turned businesswoman, Vera Sidika, has let netizens in on her views on marriage since parting ways with the father of her children, singer Brown Mauzo.

Opening up during an interactive Question and Answer session on her Instagram, The Real Housewives of Nairobi reality TV star began by asserting that she would never commit to a marriage again, dismissing it as a trap.

“Would you still give marriage a chance?” asked a fan, to which she responded, “Never, it’s a trap, I love my freedom.”

According to the seasoned singer, breaking off her marriage was the best decision she ever made for herself and her kids adding that she is genuinely and happily living her life now.

“Are you genuinely happy? Wish you all the best in everything,” quizzed another fan.

“Won’t lie, the happiest I’ve ever been. I love being single to be honest,” Vera responded.

Touching on how she coped with the break-up, Vera explained that she had mentally, emotionally, and physically checked out of her marriage months before she verbally expressed her desire to leave.

“For me, it was four months over before it ended. I was done emotionally, physically, and mentally. So it was easy and the best decision I have ever made. I chose me and wanted the best for my kids,” she explained.

Breakup

Vera and Mauzo ended their relationship sometime last year with Mauzo being the first to break the news on social media.

According to his post, they had realized that the relationship was no longer serving them and could therefore not move forward together.

“Dear friends and supporters, I wanted to take a moment to share some personal news. After much consideration, Vera Sidika and I have decided to part ways. Our journey together has been filled with unforgettable moments but we have reached a point where it is best for both of us and our babies, Asia Brown and Ice Brown, to move forward separately. We both remain grateful for the lessons learned and the growth we’ve experienced. Our focus now is on healing and embracing the future with open hearts,” he wrote.

Before the breakup announcement, Mauzo had been dropping subtle hints that his marriage had hit rock bottom, signs that netizens quickly picked up.

“If I tell the sorrows in my heart, it will burn my tongue. If I keep it in my heart, I'm afraid it will burn me from the inside. But if I let out, I fear it will burn the whole world. I cannot let it out, so I let my sorrows stay inside.

“Sometimes we don't appreciate the good things till we lose them. Sometimes we don't value the people we have in our lives till we lose them,” he said.
