Kelechi’s YouTube account hacked, all his music deleted

Kenyan musician Kelechi Africana’s YouTube account has been hacked and all its content deleted. Revealing the unfortunate news on his Instagram page, Kelechi disclosed that he had been logged out of all his devices and could not access his YouTube account. This is after the hackers changed the log in details and deleted all the previously uploaded content, including his music videos.

A visit to Kelechi’s channel, which stood at 99.6k subscribers at the time of this publication, revealed the new YouTube name as Ripple Foundation and not Kelechi Africana as previously registered. The incident was brought to the singer’s attention by fans who had tried to access the singer’s songs but were unable to.

“Hey morning ...I’m sorry for those who have tried accessing my songs and they have been unable to. My account has been hacked...” he wrote.

The Ring singer pleaded with anyone in a position to assist him in recovering his account, stating that he had tried everything to no avail.

“I’ve tried recovering it but google can’t recognize all my devices... Can someone help please?” he added.

Celebrities hacked

Several Kenyan celebrities have had to fight tooth and nail to reclaim their accounts from hackers after gaining unauthorized access and interfering with their content. In May, gospel singer Mr Seed revealed that his YouTube account had been hacked and his song Ogopa Mungu deleted.

“My YouTube Channel has been hacked. A while back I have been receiving notifications on my YouTube Channel that someone has been trying to log in but with no avail. Waking up today and getting my New Song OGOPA MUNGU deleted is heartbreaking and saddening to my hard work. I will be posting, for now, my songs on the Starborn Empire Channel until I sort out my channel and get it back to full control. I Shall Overcome. #OgopaMungu” wrote Mr Seed.

Not too long ago, popular comedian Oga Obinna found himself in a similar situation but dismissed the hackers after asking for his log in details through Whatsapp.

“Hi Ogaobinna, your account will be permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours unless you provide feedback. If you think we will accidentally your account, click the link and fill in the next required field,” part of the screenshot read.

“Sounds like bullcr*p to me. Hackers Alert! Instagram Support contacting me through WhatsApp lol,” he captioned the screenshots.

Media personality Joy Muthegi was also forced to surrender her account to hackers after they demanded ransom to give her back the account, which had over 1 million followers.

“Hey friends, it appears my account has been compromised/hacked. Please do not agree to any seemingly lucrative deals on my behalf. I will open a new account soon. I hope you will follow me there. All the hugs.

“Whoever you are, you won. I hope this helps you sleep at night. Take the account, I pray it brings you coro… I mean… happiness. I will not ever pay a bribe for that which is mine, not in this lifetime,” she wrote.
