Kenyan socialite Bridget Achieng has addressed the alleged murder of 17-year-old Steven Munga alias Shanty who succumbed to head injuries after being beaten by unknown men during the Nai Fest concert held on November 7th, 2020, at the Ngong Racecourse. Taking to her social media, the former Nairobi Diaries actress expressed her sorrow over the unfortunate incident revealing that investigations were underway to determine what happened to the teenager.

"As @thenaifest fraternity are greatly saddened by what occurred on November 7th 2020. This was during the event we successfully hosted at Ngong Racecourse Nairobi. We have taken note of the various unfortunate events that happened during and after the event. We state in no uncertain terms, it is deeply regrettable. Currently, we have commenced investigations in conjunction with the DCI Dagoretti in an attempt to ascertain the crimes that were allegedly committed on the said date. We made proper arrangements to ensure that the event went on without a hitch. However, there are certain circumstances that were unforeseeable and not within our control," she wrote in part.

Bridget assured her support to Shanty's family as they mourn the loss of their kin, adding that moving forward, her team will prioritize the safety of their clients and increase their security.

"We managed the situation to the best of our ability and hope to carry these lessons forward. We do acknowledge, we should have had additional security as this is a learning curve for us. In this regard, we shall continue to stand with and support the families adversely affected. It is regrettable and we hope it shall not happen again. Going forward, we are committed to ensuring the safety of our clients is guaranteed. We do hope that you shall continue to support the Nai Fest Family in upcoming events. Thank you for the support thus far. Regards Nai Fest Family," she continued.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Shanty's father narrated the turn of events that led to his son's beating.

"They were five and after they went in, there was a commotion. So after the commotion, my child was apprehended together with others and labelled a thief. It is from there that he was beaten and taken outside. The people he was with say he was brought back in without his shirt and shoes."

"I have lost that kid and my biggest request because I cannot bring him back is justice to Shanty," he said.

According to the pathologist who conducted a post-mortem examination Shanty, the teenager succumbed to head injuries due to blows suffered on the head.

"He got what we call a head injury, many blows to the head, he had a bleeding in the brain and that is the cause of death," he said.
