Popular Kenyan singer Kevin Kioko aka Bahati's wife, Diana Marua, recently sent social media into a frenzy after she shared never seen before pictures of herself looking swollen and entirely unrecognizable. Opening up on the picture's details on her YouTube channel, Diana explained that she was suffering from hormonal acne right after giving birth to her second child. Despite being advised by her doctors to give her body time to heal and adjust, Diana opted to seek a quicker remedy.

"I had bad breakouts that were not fading off. I called my doctor every other time and he told me to give it at least six months, it was so hard for me to post and we had a reality show. I was desperate for a solution. I had hyper-pigmentation, my neck was dark, and my chest was full of pimples," she said.

Simultaneously, a beauty product company on social media reached out to Diana and asked if she was willing to try out their products, promising that her skin would be smooth and even-toned after several uses.

"I called the guy over to the house to bring me the products, and he was very sure of what he was selling. He told me that after a week all my acne would be gone. After a week I started seeing changes. True to his words I had no new breakouts and the ones that were there were fading off," she said.

Allergic reaction

Diana's journey to recovery however, quickly went downhill after allergic reactions prompting her to stop using the products and seek medical help.  "I took pictures of my face and sent it to this guy and told him that my body was reacting to the products because now it was not only my face being affected. I had red patches all over my body and I was itchy all over.

"I used to look at myself in the mirror and I was wondering 'why is my face so swollen?' I however didn't give too much thought into it. In fact, I didn't think it was the products I was using. The next day I woke up and my face was triple what it is now, I freaked out and woke up my husband to take me to the hospital. The doctor told me he had to admit me but before that, they injected me with an anti-allergy and prescribed a few drugs that would help me," she added.

Advice to netizens

"The reason I am sharing this with you is because I really want you guys to be careful with products you are being advised out here. There are so many drugs, so many cosmetics. Some are fake, some are replicas of the original products that have been added so many chemicals to try and match the original ones.

"Let me tell you, you'd rather save money and buy that t original and expensive product than going ahead to buy a replica of the product because it is cheaper, it doesn't do you any good."
