Sauti Sol lead vocalist Bien-Aimè and his wife, fitness trainer cum radio presenter, Chiki Kuruka recently shared a picture on social media of their new wedding bands and netizens cannot keep calm. Instead of wearing actual wedding rings, the couple opted to tattoo bands on their fingers.

Bien shared a picture of their freshly drawn ring tattoos and if we are being really honest, they look absolutely beautiful.  “My wife, my life, my everything. For rich or for poor. In sickness and in health. Till death do us part,” he wrote.

The couple tied the knot at a civil ceremony held at the Registrar of Marriages before proceeding to host an invite-only reception at the Pallet Cafe in Lavington, Nairobi in March. Many were ‘angered by the singer’s decision to leave out so many people, including his fans, from the ceremony to which he responded requesting not to be invited to any wedding either.

“My message to those who are mad at me because they were not invited is, they should hold their weddings and don’t invite me. I am no longer interested in attending weddings because I have attended so many of them. It was my way of celebrating my commitment to my wife,” he said.

Bien, who spent less than Sh300,000 on his wedding, went on to advice netizens to refrain from splurging on weddings; explaining that such a ceremony is just a one-day affair.

“Please don’t do a wedding to please your parents. Do it depending on the size of your pockets, how much you can afford. A wedding is the beginning of your life. So don’t spend all your money on a wedding. Do something small and affordable. You better spend much on your honeymoon than at the wedding. Stop borrowing loans and money from your friends so you can hold a big wedding and go into debt. The budget was less than Sh300,000. A good budget for artistes like me,” he said.

Following his highly private wedding, many people requested the singer to post pictures of their big day on social media. Speaking during an interview on Radio Jambo, Bien explained that his decision to make his wedding private was so that he and his wife can enjoy their love without ‘external pressure and negative energy’.

“I haven’t made my wedding pictures public because my wedding was not an ordinary wedding. We went to the Ag and later hosted lunch and invited my close family members. The vibe that was at my wedding made my day so beautiful. It was, in fact, the happiest day of my life and I haven’t felt that love and positivity around me anywhere else. If I post the pictures on social media, not everyone will understand what is really going on because they can’t feel it. I don’t want to give idiots on social media an opportunity to talk about my wedding,” he explained.
