The Hague based Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch is not all work and no play.
During her husband’s, Dr Joseph Aluoch’s book launch recently, the judge revealed how she met her husband.
In the presence of her three daughters, Connie, Brenda and Sandra, Juctice Aluoch revealed that she met her husband while in university.
“The year was 1965 and Makerere University students had a ball in Kisumu. I was busy doing my thing on the dance floor when this gentleman came and stood in front of me,” Lady Justice Joyce told the crowd of doctors and other influential personalities who included Attorney-General Prof Githu Muigai.
She further revealed that Dr Joseph Aluoch was a great dancer.
Lady Justice Joyce was prompted by her daughter Brenda, who is a lawyer, when she shared a story about her parent’s wedding day.
“My parents wedding is probably the reason why alcohol was banned from All Saints Cathedral grounds due to the activities that went down after too much indulgence,” she shared.
Dr Joseph Aluoch, who was launching his book, In my Fathers Footsteps, did not shy away from sharing his childhood memories either.
“I know most of you are used to reading books about humble beginnings. That is not my story and I have no apologies to make for it; after all, who wants to read about humble beginnings. How does that motivate you?”he quipped amid laughter from the guests.
